DESCRIPTION:Creating a Tonal Image in Charcoal and Paint  \nSaturday\, July 27\n1 – 5 pm (4 – 5 pm critique session)\nNorth Studio\nClass Limit: 16\n$250   Member discounts may not be applied to this special workshop.\n\n\n \nIn this workshop we will learn the basics of charcoal drawing to get a quick impression of any image. These skills are crucial for planning tonal schemes in drawing and painting. The same basics can be applied to drawing in paint. The backbone of a quick painting is a good drawing with organized values. We will make a monotone drawing in paint using the same principles of charcoal. These skills will be enormously helpful in all varieties of quick sketch. \n \nPlease bring the following supplies:\nVine or willow charcoal (paper and canvas to be supplied by me)\nSmall tube of raw umber oil paint \nA few brushes of varying size. One of those little brush kits at hobby lobby is fine. \nA small bottle of Gamsol or Odorless mineral spirit of your choice. \n \n\nVisiting Artist: Ananda Fetherston\, a Slater\, Iowa born fine artist\, was educated under Jacob Collins at the Grand Central Atelier in New York City. She has exhibited in New York where she lives with her husband\, a fellow painter. In addition to oil painting and drawing\, Ananda is a printmaker. \n\n \nAnanda will also be teaching a workshop on Thursday\, July 25\, Creating a Precise Linear Drawing for Painting.\n\n \n\n\nRegistration closes on at 5pm on 7/25/19 or when the workshop fills. \n\nTo register: \n\nenter the number of “tickets” you want below (one ticket per student)\nclick “add to cart”  \ncomplete the contact information form that appears after you add a ticket\ncomplete the payment information\ncheck your email for your receipt\n\nPlease contact us with any registration questions or concerns.

DESCRIPTION:Creating a Precise Linear Drawing for Painting\nThursday\, July 25\n6 – 8 pm\nNorth Studio\nClass Limit: 16\n$90  Membership discounts may not be applied to this workshop.\n \n\nLearn the fundamentals of making a linear drawing in preparation for painting. We will discuss accurate shapes\, proportional agreement and identifying important information needed during the painting. We will learn the transfer process that has been used by centuries of painters to preserve an accurate drawing throughout the painting. These techniques translate particularly well to portraiture\, still life and any image involving complicated perspective. Participants need no paint or canvas for this workshop. \n \nPlease bring these supplies: Drawing Paper\, graphite pencil and sharpener\, eraser of choice\n \n\n\nVisiting Artist: Ananda Fetherston\, a Slater\, Iowa born fine artist\, was educated under Jacob Collins at the Grand Central Atelier in New York City.
